The short version

500 Score keeps the score for the card game Five Hundred. The games you set up, the players' names and the scores all stay on your own device. We never see them.

The app sends a small amount of anonymous information about how it is used and how smoothly it runs, so we can fix problems and make it better. It can't be traced back to you, and it never includes names, scores or anything you type.

What stays on your device

  • Your games: the players, teams, bids, tricks and scores of every round.
  • The rule variations you choose, and your appearance and motion preferences.
  • A short local log of how the app has performed, which you can see in the Settings app.

This information is not sent to us or to anyone else. If you delete a game, or the app, it is gone.

What the app sends

The app uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count how the app is used. It identifies an installation only by a hashed, app-specific identifier, and adds the device model and the operating system and app versions. The signals are:

Installs and updatesThat the app was installed, or moved from one version to another, with the version numbers.
GamesThat a game was created (how many players, which scoring table), that a round was played (its number), and that a game finished (how many rounds and players).
SmoothnessHow an animation ran: the frame rate, dropped frames, and how many cards were on screen.
EffortHow hard the app worked while it was open: how long, processor use, the device's heat level, whether Low Power Mode was on, and battery use over the session.
Daily totalsProcessor, graphics and on-screen time for the day, from Apple's MetricKit.

We use this to find slow or power-hungry parts of the app and to see which releases people are using. We don't use it for advertising and we don't sell it.

What the app never collects

  • Names, or the names of your players and teams
  • Scores, bids or anything else you type
  • Your contacts, photos, microphone, camera or location
  • Your email address, phone number or any account details (there are no accounts)
  • The advertising identifier, or anything used to track you across other apps and websites

Tracking and advertising

500 Score doesn't track you. It contains no advertising and no third-party advertising or social network code, and it doesn't combine its information with data from other companies.

Apple's diagnostics

If you have chosen to share crash and usage data with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports and performance data through App Store Connect. Apple controls that sharing and it follows Apple's privacy policy.

Children

500 Score is a scorekeeper for a card game and isn't directed at children. It doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, children included, because it doesn't collect personal information at all.

Your rights and choices

Because the information the app sends is anonymous, we can't look up, correct or delete the signals from one particular person. Everything you enter stays on your device, where you control it: you can delete any game in the app, and deleting the app removes it all.

If you live somewhere with privacy laws such as the GDPR or the Australian Privacy Act and have a question about your rights, please get in touch (500app [at] symes [dot] dev).

Changes to this policy

If the app changes what it collects (for example, if games can later be saved to iCloud or played online), we will update this page, change the date at the top, and tell you in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
